As one of the first environmentally responsible and diversified fossil fuel free international index funds available to U.S. investors, the International Index Fund offers investors a way to diversify internationally by investing in environmental leaders and innovators in developed markets outside of the United States.     Vestas*

    Vestas Wind Systems, headquartered in Denmark, is the only global energy company dedicated exclusively to wind energy. With installations in 84 countries, Vestas turbines account for 18% of global wind energy production. Since 2013, every wind turbine that Vestas has manufactured has been built using 100% renewable energy.

    Sony*

    Headquartered in Japan, Sony is one of the largest electronics companies in the world. It also is one of the most sustainable. Sony aspires to have zero environmental footprint by 2050, and continues to make progress towards that goal. Between 2000 and 2016, Sony achieved an approximately 40% reduction in absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its sites worldwide, and has made even more progress since. Sony also addressed waste by developing its own 99% recycled plastic for use in products (including the camera pictured here), which reduces manufacturing emissions by 80% per item.

    Danone* may be synonymous with yogurt in the minds of most Americans, but the global food giant also has cultured a well-earned reputation for caring about the health of people and the planet. Danone is committed to becoming carbon neutral across its full value chain by 2050. It already is working with its suppliers, farmers, and consumers to reduce the carbon pollution indirectly related to its products by 50% by 2030. The Paris-based Danone also is using regenerative agricultural practices to preserve soil health. In 2018, Danone was ranked 11th in Fortune’s “Change the World” list of companies taking on society’s biggest problems.
